Huggalugs was first launched in May of 2006, with just leg and arm huggers, or warmers, for babies and children. Elizar, the Director, became very frustrated that she could not find arm and leg warmers for her children. It is common knowledge that when a little one is in a stroller or carrier, their pants and shirts ride up and a blanket can become an aggravation if you are on the go. Elizar decided to make her own designs and used her family and friends as the judges.
After finalizing her leg and arm huggers, Elizar joined with Jennifer Zuber for a time and designed a range of children's clothing that would compliment the leg and arm warmers. Huggalugs contains 100% Australian Organic cotton t-shirts, and the wool baby wraps are made of 100% Australian Merino wool. Elizar has utilized her background in fine arts and a love of color to add a touch of class and originality to her patterns and designs. One of the greatest benefits of purchasing through Huggalugs is the fact that some of the proceeds that you spend on an article of clothing for your own child will be donated to help sponsor another child.
Huggalugs are best known for their baby clothes, but what you might not know is that you can also purchase maternity clothing. You will not find your average smock with a tie back on the Huggalugs website. They supply pregnant mothers with an aid to help wear their pre-existing clothing from before they were pregnant. The Huggalugs Bump Huggers are made of breathable Australian cotton and Lycra fabric, also known as t-shirt expanders and belly bands. You can wear the Bump Huggers under an already owned t-shirt to help hide the gap that is caused by the expanding belly. You can also wear your pre-pregnant jeans by leaving them un-buttoned and then slipping the hugger over them.
